How to Prepare for Your Ultrasound Appointment
Preparing for Your Keepsake Ultrasound Session:
For BEST results, we recommend the following:
- Hydrate well for 3 - 7 days BEFORE your appointment
- Have a light meal 30 minutes BEFORE your appointment
- Bring a snack and juice to help your baby move (but don't eat/drink them yet)
- Arrive 5 minutes early with a FULL bladder - See hydration instructions below
- While you wait, browse our keepsakes and make your selections.
- If you are choosing a heartbeat keepsake please tell your sonographer at the BEGINNING of your appointment
Hydration Instructions:
- Hydrating well with any clear liquids for 3-7 days before your ultrasound will increase the fluid around your baby and make your amniotic fluid clearer.
- We recommend drinking 12–20 ounces of water about 45 minutes before your ultrasound.
*We don't want your bladder to be uncomfortably full, partially full is perfectly adequate.
**Please stop drinking if your bladder begins to become uncomfortable.
Once You Arrive
Your Keepsake Ultrasound Session:
Please plan to arrive 5 minutes early to your ultrasound appointment.
When you enter the building, you’ll find a reception area and a comfortable waiting room. Please make yourself comfortable; your sonographer will greet you as soon as they are ready.
At that time, we will:
- Greet you and your guests
- Confirm your paperwork is completed (please have your healthcare provider's information readily available)
- Verify your name and due date
- Escort you to the ultrasound room and begin your session
Please note: While we make every effort to stay on schedule, we appreciate your patience should minor delays occur.
Your Diagnostic Ultrasound Session:
The process is the same, with 2 additional steps:
- Your paperwork will be sent to you 3-5 days before your appointment and must be completed online prior to your arrival.
- We will ask you about your medical history that is relevant to your ultrasound.
Things Come Up, We Understand
We know life is unpredictable, and sometimes you may need to change your appointment. Here’s how our policies work:
Need to Cancel/Reschedule?
Cancellations or rescheduled appointments with less than the required notice will be subject to a non-refundable fee.
- Cancellation policy - please provide at least 48 hours’ notice
- Reschedule policy - please give us at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule
*No-Show Policy
If you miss your appointment without notice, the full appointment fee is due immediately.
- We reserve the right to charge these fees for up to 14 days after the missed appointment if your card on file is declined.
- No-shows must prepay for all future appointments. Fees are non-refundable.
**Late Arrival
If you’re running late, please call and text us as soon as possible.
- To respect other clients’ scheduled appointment times, late arrivals may result in a shortened session.
- If we cannot accommodate you, a missed appointment fee will apply, and we will reschedule your appointment.
