Before 6-7 weeks, it may be too early to see the baby clearly
First trimester imaging is best at 8+ weeks when baby is about the size of a gummy bear
Upon request, we'll provide a complimentary Quick Peek in 3D

💧 Full Bladder Required: For the clearest images, drink 12–20 oz of water about 45 minutes before your appointment and do not empty your bladder. An empty bladder can make it difficult or impossible to see baby, resulting in darker or unclear images.

14 - 23 Weeks

Your Second Trimester
We can tell the GENDER of your baby now (as long as baby measures 13 weeks 4 days or more)
Hydrate well the week before your scan, bring snacks and juice to your appointment
3D/4D imaging can be difficult - your baby is still tiny (lemon to mango sized)

💧 Full Bladder Recommended: For the clearest images, drink 10-16 oz of water about 45 minutes before your appointment and do not empty your bladder. Your bladder is used as a better "window" to see your baby through.

24-27 Weeks

Your Second Trimester
Hydrate well for at least 3-7 days before your appointment (water and electrolytes)
Bring a Snack AND Juice to have during your appointment, if you have dietary restrictions COLD water can help
3D/4D imaging is better now - your baby is getting bigger (now mango to banana sized)
You will be amazed at how much your baby moves around

💧 A Full Bladder is still important and your full bladder creates a clearer window to see your baby. For BEST results drink at least 10-16 ounces 45 minutes before your appointment and do not empty your bladder.

**Best time for TWIN 3D/4D scans is 24-27 weeks

Your Third Trimester
Hydrate well for at least 3-7 days before your appointment (water and electrolytes)

3D/4D imaging is BEST from 28-32 weeks - your baby develops more each week
You will be amazed at your baby's expressions and facial features

**My personal FAVORITE time to scan babies is from 28-30 weeks!**

💧 A Full Bladder is important at this stage. For BEST results drink at least 16 ounces 45 minutes before your appointment and do not empty your bladder.

Your MID Third Trimester
Hydrate well for at least 7 days before your appointment (water and electrolytes)
Bring a Snack AND Juice to have during your appointment, if you have dietary restrictions COLD water can help
3D/4D imaging - Around 34 weeks, fetal facial features are fully developed and closely resemble your baby’s appearance at birth. However, imaging after 32 weeks can be more challenging, depending on amniotic fluid levels, placental location, fetal position, and maternal tissues.

**It is BEST to choose a Package that is at least 20 minutes to allow time to get baby in an optimal position to see their face.

💧 A Full Bladder is essential at this stage. For BEST results drink at least 16 ounces 45 minutes before your appointment and do not empty your bladder.

Your LATE Third Trimester

3D/4D imaging after 36 weeks can be LIMITED - Around 34 weeks, fetal facial features are fully developed and closely resemble your baby’s appearance at birth. However, imaging after 32 weeks can be more challenging, depending on amniotic fluid levels, placental location, fetal position, and maternal tissues.

**It is BEST to choose a Package that is at least 20 minutes to allow time to get baby in an optimal position to see their face.

Why moms choose a 1st Trimester Ultrasound

In the 1st Trimester, many moms prefer 2D ultrasounds over 3D ultrasounds.

Here are the reasons why moms sometimes prefer 2D in the FIRST Trimester.

To see the whole baby in one picture
Watch baby move and wiggle on screen
Early Gender determination
Heartbeat check - for Peace of Mind
Reassurance Ultrasounds -for extra confidence between routine appointments

2nd Trimester 2D / 3D / 4D Scans

24–26 weeks can still offer incredible images—especially if you’re eager for an early look!

In the 2nd Trimester baby’s facial features are still developing, and fat hasn’t filled out their face and body just yet. This means baby may look a little more slender or bony than in later weeks.

A 3D/4D Scan in the 2nd Trimester Might Be Perfect If:

You’re too excited to wait and would like a Sneak Peek in 3D
You already plan to return in the 3rd trimester but want a 3D peek before the 3rd Trimester
You have a history of preterm labor and want to ensure you get beautiful images before you potentially go into labor
You’re finding out baby’s gender and want to add a 3D/4D glimpse to that experience

When to WAIT to schedule your 3D/4D Ultrasound.

If any of the following apply to you, consider scheduling your scan between 28–36 weeks for the best possible images:

Baby is breech (butt down)
Amniotic fluid levels are low
You only plan to have one 3D/4D/5D ultrasound during your pregnancy
You want to clearly see who baby looks like—Mom or Dad

👉 Good news: our packages are affordable enough that many families choose to return for a second scan!

Why Timing Matters

The closer to delivery, the chubbier baby will appear—but baby won’t fully fit on the screen anymore.
Earlier in the third trimester (28–32 weeks) offers the best balance of clear imaging and baby’s full face in-frame.
Weight gain doesn’t begin significantly until the end of the second trimester, so waiting until at least 28 weeks helps you see cute cheeks and fuller features.

Position - Breech Babies

⚠️ Please Note:

Breech babies are harder to image in 3D/4D, especially if they’re tucked low or facing mom's spine.
*While our team is trained in special techniques to work around these challenges, breech babies typically have less ability/desire to move thier arms/legs away from thier faces and are typically less cooperative due to thier position.

If you would like to see baby in 2D for reassurance - CHOOSE the 2D First / Last Peek.

It is a 10 minute 2D only ultrasound that will enable you to see baby wave thier hands and move around, providing some reassurance.

If you would like to find out the Gender of your baby... CHOOSE either the 2D EARLY Gender Peek or the Gender Peek.

Early GENDER Peek: must be at least 13 weeks 4 days to 16 weeks 6 days; 95% accuracy rating (can add 3D for only $10).
Regular Gender Peek: 17 weeks and greater; 98% accuracy rating (can add 3D for only $10).
